From Rigidity to Harmony: How Religions Evolve Through Cultural Exchange

At Frehindi, engaging with youth from diverse backgrounds often sparks questions about extremism and labeling communities as non-peaceful. Religions, like individuals, evolve over time, with younger ones experiencing growing pains. History shows that cultural integration, as seen in Sufism and Urdu’s emergence, fosters harmony. By promoting cross-cultural programs, Frehindi helps youth embrace diversity and contribute to this ongoing evolution toward unity and understanding.

How Le Frehindi’s Cultural Exchange Program Creates Lifelong Memories: Experience Of A Student

About Myself I am Parnika Pandey, I’m a college student majoring in French. I had attended school at Delhi Public School Greater Faridabad, where in class 12th, I got the chance to live an unforgettable experience of becoming a part of the Indo-French Student Exchange Program, a cultural learning experience offered by Le Frehindi. It was a week-long program and a twenty-student delegation of students from classes 8th to 12th. The visits were organized not only for the cities of France, i.e. – Lille, Paris and Roubaix, but also for the neighboring country- Belgium. Every Moment Rich In Culture! The first day was street familiarization where we had a walking tour of Roubaix. We met with a French English teacher- Ms. Mathilde who took us to old Lyon to share insights about its rich history and culture, also, it is the birthplace of the first president of France! We also explored local shops and delicacies. The following day, we went to Lycée Saint-Rémi, Roubaix to meet and interact with the French students, where we gave them an Indian dance and music performance and I presented a PPT about our Indian school and Indian Culture. I was so content to see so many shocked French faces, because my accent was just like theirs! It was not just France that was covered in this exchange program, but also Belgium! We visited the Grand Palace in Brussels along with our French peers and played a game of treasure hunting. Next, we visited the European Union parliament and had a guided tour with the EU spokesperson. It was a very informative session, which I felt to be especially important for students of our age. In Paris, we visited all the key landmarks that I had previously seen only in books and online- The Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, l’Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysées, the oldest bridge in Paris- Pont Neuf. The last day was probably the most favorite of all students- which was a visit to Disneyland. Two cultures, one sentiment When we first visited the French high school- Lycée Saint-Rémi, Roubaix and met the French students there, I was delighted to see that they were very welcoming and made all of the Indian students feel comfortable. Although conversations were limited because there were only few students who could efficiently speak in English and French, this language distinction posed little barrier because we found one or the other way to understand each other. These simple conversations soon blossomed into wholesome friendships; I still talk to my French friends- Elliot and Sao from time to time. I had so much fun in the saree-draping activity and rangoli making. All the bus journeys were always accompanied by a lot of Indian and French music, with each one of us teaching the other to learn the classic Bollywood dance steps and pronouncing Hindi and French words of songs. I remember when we had to leave for Paris, some of us cried because we could no longer see our French friends. Excellent coordination by Le Frehindi Team The CEO of Le Frehindi- Mr. Haru Mehra orchestrated the entire program and guided the students along with Ms. Shilpa Jain. There was a great amount of independence that was granted to the school students despite being in a foreign land. We were allowed to explore by ourselves different places. The only requirements were that we stay together with our friend group at all times and carry our Le Frehindi ID cards anywhere we go. So, I remember my friends and I would go and try out dishes of different restaurants and we would explore different streets, and malls, all by ourselves. There was a time limit, after which we all had to meet at a common point. Needless to say, the program was very well-coordinated, and we were always in contact with Ms. Shilpa Jain and Mr. Mehra who kept us updated with our schedule and if any change were to take place, it was notified to us timely. Mr. Mehra walked with us and led us to all the destinations which we always reached on time. Ms. Shilpa was always patient with the students and approached situations with calm. Impact: Learning and Cultural Awareness Since my passion has always been in the French language, I was looking forward to this exchange program more than the others in my group. For me, there was little importance to clicking pictures every moment of the journey or enjoying Disneyland rides, though surely these were nothing less than memorable, but what I was looking forward to more was the learning component of how spoken French sounds like and testing my own skills of comprehension that I’ve been studying in school since so many years and by myself. Although I was better at conversing in French than the other Indian students, the fact that it was still difficult for me to follow spoken French was a shock to me and felt really unfamiliar. I was also keen to understand how payment, travel and transportation works in France, how bus cards look like, how street signs look like, how everyday interactions with shopkeepers, and cashiers look like in a completely different cultural context, and also how humor and jokes vary from one country to the other. Practical knowledge of this kind isn’t imparted to school students when they are studying French in school. The entire focus is on grammar and formal conversations. So I strongly believe that exchange programs like these are a great initiative and should be organized more often. For more details, kindly visit our website at www.lefrehindi.com. Whether you’re a teacher, student, learner, principal, or institute owner, there’s something for everyone in what we offer. Let’s dive into our exciting journey at IATF Congress 2024, filled with cultural immersion, collaborative learning, and heartfelt connections. Day 1: Grand Opening, High Tea, and a Cultural Extravaganza The event began with enthusiastic registrations, a delicious lunch, and an inspiring inauguration ceremony. The tone was set with thought-provoking speeches from experts in French education, laying the foundation for three enriching days ahead. Our Le Frehindi stall quickly became a hub of activity. Delegates from prominent schools, universities, and institutions like Alliance Française stopped by to learn about our wide array of programs, including Cultural Exchange initiatives, Teacher Training Program, and Student Mobility opportunities. Many were curious about our name—Le Frehindi—and were fascinated by its origins. We explained with pride that the name symbolizes a cultural bridge between French (“Le Français-French”) and Indian (“Hindi”) cultures, a vision brought to life by our CEO, Mr. Haru Mehra. The High Tea: A Highlight of Day 1 As proud sponsors, Le Frehindi hosted the High Tea, creating a welcoming space for educators and delegates to connect over a delightful spread of refreshments. Conversations flowed as participants shared insights, discussed collaboration opportunities, and exchanged ideas about the future of French education in India. The atmosphere was one of warmth and camaraderie, making the High Tea a memorable highlight of the event. Evening brought the much-awaited Gala Night at Hotel Clarks Amer, where the charm of Rajasthani culture took center stage. In the evening, we stepped out to explore Jaipur, starting with the stunning Amber Fort. The light and sound show brought history to life, narrating tales of valor and legacy. Later, we wandered through the bustling streets of Hawa Mahal and wrapped up the day with dinner at the charming Tattoo Cafe, enjoying a gorgeous view of the iconic monument. Adding a personal touch, we distributed souvenirs and gifts brought from Paris by Haru Sir himself. Unlocking the Magic of Language: Discovering Indo-European Connections with Le Frehindi

Have you ever felt a sense of déjà vu when hearing a word in a different language? It’s as if that word has traveled across time and space, carrying with it a familiar sound and meaning. At Le Frehindi, we turn these fascinating linguistic connections into a journey of discovery! Our workshops bring to life the magic of words that look and sound similar across Indo-European languages, sparking curiosity and excitement among students and teachers alike. Starting with the Words We Know Mother – A Word That Feels Like Home Across these languages, “mother” is more than just a word – it’s a connection that feels like home. Friend – A Word That Brings People Together Wherever you go, “friend” carries a warm and familiar sound, like an open invitation to connect. Star – A Word That Shines Universally Look up, and you’ll see stars that speak to everyone in their own language, but always with a similar twinkle. These are just starting points. Our workshops begin with these familiar connections, but they don’t stop there. We take learning far beyond these words, transforming the entire experience into something much more dynamic, engaging, and multi-dimensional. A World of Activities Beyond Words At Le Frehindi, we believe language is not just about vocabulary; it’s about expression, culture, emotion, and real-world application. Our workshops are designed to cover all these aspects and more, creating a vibrant environment where every student becomes an active participant in their own learning journey. Interactive and Multi-Sensory Learning We know that the best learning happens when all senses are engaged. That’s why our workshops incorporate a wide range of activities that appeal to different learning styles. Students might find themselves exploring language through music and rhythm, using their hands to create visual art projects related to cultural themes, or even preparing simple dishes from different countries to learn about food vocabulary in a fun, delicious way! Building Communication Skills Through Real-Life Scenarios Language is all about communication, and our workshops create countless opportunities for students to practice in real-life scenarios. They might role-play as travelers navigating a bustling foreign market, negotiating prices and asking for directions. Or they might imagine themselves at an international youth camp, introducing themselves and making new friends from around the world. These exercises are not only fun and engaging but also give students the confidence to use their language skills in practical situations. Creative Storytelling and Expression Storytelling is at the heart of human connection, and we use it extensively in our workshops. Students are encouraged to craft their own stories using words they’ve learned, drawing on their imagination to create tales that might feature characters from different cultures, or adventures that take place across continents. This helps them develop a deeper understanding of both the language and the cultures it represents, making the learning experience richer and more memorable. Collaborative Learning Through Team Challenges We believe that learning is more powerful when it happens together. That’s why our workshops are designed to foster collaboration and teamwork. Students participate in group challenges that might involve solving puzzles, creating skits, or completing quests that require them to use their language skills creatively and cooperatively. These activities build camaraderie, enhance communication skills, and teach students the value of working together towards a common goal. Exploring Culture Through Fun Facts and Curiosities Language cannot be separated from culture, and our workshops are filled with fascinating cultural nuggets that make the words come alive. Students learn not just what a word means, but why it matters. They might discover why the word for “star” (Estrella, Étoile, Stella) appears in so many folktales, or how the word for “bread” (Pain, Pan, Brot) is central to daily life and traditions in various cultures. These insights help students appreciate the richness of the languages they are learning, going beyond words to explore traditions, history, and social practices. Combining Physical Movement with Language Learning Learning doesn’t have to happen while sitting at a desk. Our workshops are designed to get students moving! Whether they’re engaging in a lively dance to learn action verbs, or playing games that require them to run, jump, or navigate an obstacle course while following instructions in a new language, they’re actively using their bodies to reinforce what they’re learning. This multi-sensory approach ensures that language learning is both memorable and fun. Creating Lasting Memories Through Unique Experiences At Le Frehindi, we don’t just teach languages; we create experiences that students will remember for years to come. By blending traditional learning with creative, interactive activities, we provide a holistic language experience that goes far beyond the classroom. Students don’t just learn words; they use them, play with them, and experience them in a way that makes learning feel natural and enjoyable. Join the Language Adventure with Le Frehindi! Are you ready to take your students on a linguistic adventure that spans continents and cultures? Partner with Le Frehindi, and let’s bring the world of languages to life! Our workshops are designed to spark curiosity, foster creativity, and build a deep, lasting love for languages. Whether you’re a school looking for a new approach or an educator seeking innovative strategies, our programs are here to inspire and engage. Discover More and Start the Journey!
